Editor Bob’s Two Cents on New Year Resolutions

Send New Year EcardsThere are a lot of things and people that talk New Year resolutions but the basic underlying fact is the same: even the most determined go wayward when it comes to New Year Resolutions. So this New Year 2009, maybe you should have a resolution to stick to your New Year resolutions to begin with!

I believe the best way to achieve that is to think carefully over what your New Year resolution(s) will be. The first big mistake is to decide something at the eleventh hour, just for the heck of it. That is a sure way to see your resolution fall flat in just the first few days. Think carefully over your New Year resolution. Probably a good time to do so is now. It could be on the personal level or professional. Making realistic New Year resolutions always help. Write them down or talk to a close friend and tell them what you’ll be doing. Seek support, it’s ok to get friends to help you. We’re all human.

What do you have to say about New Year Resolutions? What is your New Year resolution? Leave me YOUR two cents.

  1. Hi Bob,
I love the fresh start of a new year! My resolution: to be more grateful for everything that comes my way. This includes the “gifts” of difficult things because they too have something to teach me!
I have a quote up on my wall that says, “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.”
I’m clearing the path to create some space for some new adventures in my life this year.
Peace, Love & Joy to All in 2009~
    Barbara 🙂

  2. Hey Bob,
Talking about New Year resolution, I would like to share with you a wonderful experience over Christmas. I met a wise old man while I was queuing to send out my Christmas presents. He was telling me a lot of histories and stories of people all over world. I was wondering how he knew all these. He told me that he talked to everyone, in the queue, in a taxi, everywhere. He had made friends all over the world. He worked very hard according to a schedule and enjoyed his holidays by travelling with his wife. He said the most important thing was to have a good heart but mixed with the people wherever he went. His eyes sparkled with wisdom when he spoke. That was a really great lesson. I have to start working hard with a tight schedule, glue myself to the desk and take care of my family when I can. That may be a New Year Resolution that takes a lot of determination to do but it is not impossible. What do you think Bob?

  3. My New Year Resolution is to start and finish the semester at NEIU. I have a head start since I am staring school January 12 but I’ve been out of college for almos 8 years so it’s like starting all over again which can be frustrating. My way to keeping my Resolution and making it real? I’ve asked as much people as I can to either call or e-mail me asking how’s college going and remind me that a semester goes by in a blink of the eye. I’ve also asked my two girls ages 7 and 5 to ask me if they can quit school too if I quit…lol :o) Guess I will for the first time in life keep a New Years Resolution

  4. I’m not one for new year resolutions, because I don’t believe in it. A standing ovation to those who keep to their resolutions. I hope you have a great new year with all your friends and family!

  5. Dear Bob,
given the hectic, stressful lifestyles that we all have i think that it is time to stop a little bit and try to spend more time with our family and friends. So i would put this as a as a number one new year resolution .I would also like to get a little bit more organized with my work. And for last put not less important i would like to put myself into a healthy nutrition program for a better way of life.
This is my contribution for the new year resolutions .

  6. Hi Bob, I admire your perseverance in maintaining the blog and the newsletter. It must be hard work. My New Year resolution is to follow your example in improving and maintaining my work.

  7. This is my New Year wish rather than New Year resolution. I wish that there is love and peace in this world. I wish people really are looking for ways to make the world better rather than using this as an excuse to forbidden others to get into “their territories”.

  8. I have learned more from the old wise man while I was waiting in the queue. He told me to be patient. He told me some of the really bad treatments he had received in some countries. He was looked down by some people simply because they had made a wrong judgement about him and they insisted that they had made no mistakes. He told me there was no fairness or equality in this world. However, it is possible to overcome all these obstacles, with patience and perseverance and never give up if one is right.
Bob, have you seen a ray of sun coming through a hole in thick clouds?

  9. B. My New Year’s resolution is to be more patient, thoughtful and helpful towards all people. Whether they’re my friends, family, co-workers or people on the street, I will be their sister.

  10. Hey Bob, your New Year Eve party was not a disaster compared with mine. I was to be the clown carrying the presents to my friends. I went there with a big bag of presents, like Santa Claus. Then I realized that my friends had moved and I forgot to get their new address. Worse still, I forgot to bring my mobile phone and had to return home with the big bag of presents. That was really awful.

  11. My New Year resolution is to be on time for work and be on my schedule. So far the first part has been fine. I wish the same for my friend.

  12. My new yrs res. is to stop bitting my nails and in swimming to get the Qualifiy times in the events im swimming

  13. This might help poeple with completing there new yrs res. it’s one of my fav. quotes: “So many people along the way, whatever it is you do, will tell you it can’t be done. But all it takes is imagination. You dream. You plan. You reach. There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, with belief, with confidence and trust in yourself and those around(like Bob said), there are no limits. When i’m focused, there is not one single thing, person, anything that can stand in the way of my doing something. There is not. If i want something bad enough, I feel I’m gonna get there.”
