A Silent Thank You For The Peace Amidst The Storm.

Super-typhoon Haiyan has devastated the shores of Philippines, and every time I see it on the news, my heart just breaks even more.

With Thanksgiving coming up, I can’t help but be even more thankful of how New York has recovered after Hurricane Sandy hit us in 2012, allowing us to resume our normal lives.

I can’t imagine how much harder it will be for the developing nation to recover and rebuild. Which is why at the very least I’m happy to see that amidst the storm, the hope of kindness and peace shines through.

Just last week was World Kindness Day. It’s amazing to see that during this week, the world displayed immeasurable kindness.

The U.S. pledged $20 million in aid for the victims. Britain is sending a warship with an additional pledge of £50 million in aid from the UK. The Vatican is dispatching $4 million, Japan is donating $10 million, China has pledged $2 million, and Australia and New Zealand is giving $28 million and $1.7 million respectively. Even Ikea is giving $2.7 million! And that’s just to name a few.

Thus, by encouraging people to say hello to friends and family around the world, we stand united in the voice for peace.

It was nice to have witnessed the world come together to show immeasurable kindness in the week of World Kindness Day. Let’s make the extra effort to step up to show that we can also come together and stand united to preserve peace.

Send a World Hello Day greeting card to all your friends and family, near or far, and let your voice of peace be heard amidst the storm.
