Day Of The Dead!

This particular festival has its origins in pagan culture. The skulls were shown as trophies and they pertained to death and rebirth.

In today’s times, it is celebrated in the memory of ancestors by visiting the place they lay in peace and/or by constructing altars, which hold foods and other beverages that the person who is dead was fond of. It sometimes could be even private possessions of that person like an album or even a particular kind of wine.

These altars could be built at the graveyard by their grave or at home too.

And then there are the processions. Akin to Halloween, this procession contains people who sport costumes that resemble skeletons, etc.

Day of the Dead is a day to remember those people who were close to us and have departed to a better place. It is always nice to be remembered. There are a lot of lessons in life and death. And the most important lesson is that death is constant and the life you live and the way you live it will determine how much you will be remembered after your death.

We have greeting cards lined for Day of the Dead too. Spread the word that the festival is here and then, send some cards to remind the ones alive of the ones that have departed.

On such an occasion, we do so with our family and friends. That getting together of loved ones to think about the ones that have departed is a beautiful experience. And that is why this is one of the most humbling festivals of the year.

We face reality on this day and celebrate life after death.
