Salute The Soldiers!

A Big Hello To My Friends…

We won’t get to see the Osama’s picture. Donald Trump is not going to run for President or so it seems. IMF Boss and the man who was tipped to be the next President of France is spending his time in prison. This week has been a mixed bag, won’t you say? Sacrifice, love, and smiles. Three strong emotions. Today, I would like to talk to you about all three. Listen in and tell me how you feel about it.

Memorial Day[May 30]

Do you know where is Iraq? Do you know what’s the weather is like, there? How about Afghanistan? Any idea about the local culture? Have you seen the Hurt Locker? Body of Lies? Have you ever known how it feels to have a friend dying in your arms?

It’s okay if you don’t know. But remember to respect… This Memorial Day! Not everything in this world can be bought with a bagful of dollars or with influence. A soldier’s duty is something that sometimes even goes beyond reasoning. One of those things that reminds us that we are human after all and we differ from wild animals. The sacrifice by an educated fellow American elevates the just not the patriotism towards our country, but in a collective thought gives us a reason to be fair to what we do–in the career we have chosen and the relationships we nurture.

My salute to the ones who brave the heat in the desert while we catch up on the latest blockbusters. My salute to the ones who laid their lives down so that we can live in peace on this Memorial Day.

Happy Birthday Megan!

Megan has taken to Twitter big time these days. She is making my life hell in 140 characters. She announced she would accept birthday wishes only in two forms. One, through 123greetings.com birthday cards and next through Twitter.

First one, didn’t pose a problem at all. I choose the best of the lot in the Happy Birthday section and sent her at least 4 cards. When it came to Twitter, I was caught unawares. I am a loose canon when it comes to writing, as you know and I didn’t know how to limit the wish within 140 characters.

At long lost, this is what I came up with:

“My friend, sis and everything else. My good days. My smiles. My happy tears–Megan. Happy Birthday!”

I Love You, Aaliyah!

Aaliyah was in a contemplative mood the other day. We were in Starbucks and I was sipping on my pure water when she came up with this. “Bob, do you like outdoors or indoors?” “Well, I prefer being with you behind closed doors!” I winked. “Dude… Go easy on that one. Seriously, Bob, tell me… You like indoors or outdoors!” She asked. “Hmm… Frankly, Aaliyah, I like a bit of both. I would like to laze around and catch up on a game or some music. Sometimes, I would like you to be around, chatter and crib, love and hold… When it’s outdoors, I would like your hand in mine or your eyes on mine. Point is, I would rather face the world with you.” I smiled. “Oh! Bob… You have a way with words… What’s your favorite quote, like, ever?!” “I love you, Aaliyah!” She smiled.

Smile More, Steve!

Steve being the geek he is, always has a focused face which seldom parts into a smile. Silly jokes don’t tickle him. So, here’s what I wrote on Steve’s Facebook wall.

A monk asked Chao-chou, “I have just entered the monastery: please give me some guidance.” Chao-chou said, “Have you eaten your rice gruel?” The monk said, “Yes, I’ve eaten.” Chao-chou said, “Then go wash your bowl.” Lo behold! I got a smiley back from him.

Okay, now, here is the deal… I have started updating Editor Bob’s Blog every Monday and Thursday. I want you to come around, take a read and make the experience interactive. There are some real interesting things happening in the world and let’s discuss what’s worth. In the meantime, connect with your friends and folks and spread some smiles.
