Make The Time Right

A serene breeze swept across New York that evening. I was reading a book and enjoying my cup of coffee when the doorbell rang. It was Adrian who was here with food. “Bob, come I have got our favorite chicken barbeque pizza with extra cheese an,” He said.

While we were eating Adrian’s phone was constantly buzzing with notifications. After a point, he got so irritated that he put it on silent mode. “What’s the matter? Is everything alright?” I asked.

Taking a huge bite of his pizza slice he said, “It’s May who wants me to figure out a few things. We both wish to start our venture but have not planned anything yet. She wants to talk about it but I still feel when the right time comes we will know how to go about it!” He answered.

“How long have you both been thinking about this?” I asked.

“It’s been around one year now. It’s a faint idea that we have but something or the other comes up and we are not able to focus on it. So, I think we must wait till things settle a bit. Let’s not hurry! But, May feels that I am reluctant,” He replied.

“There is never a right time, Adrian. You have to make the time right amidst all the odds. You are just giving excuses and not efforts. It should not take you one year to think and talk. You are just being reluctant! I agree with May on this!” I said.

“Then how should I go about it? With my professional life, setting up the new place, May being to and fro with her work – how do I manage?” He asked.

“I know it’s not easy but take baby steps! Take the initiative and work things out on partnership. Talk it out, plan, and then based on each other’s strengths and weaknesses actively work on making the plan come to action,” I suggested.

“Yes, you are right. I should start taking baby steps and give shape to the idea. I will straightaway head home from here and discuss with May,” He said.

“Well do that!” I said and then we enjoyed the rest of the evening with pizza and coke.

Expecting to wake up to a fine morning without any challenges is a wrong thought. Life never happens that way! Amidst all the highs and the lows, we have to take baby steps in fulfilling our dreams. Every little progress counts so no matter what, make progress each day. Instead of thinking or waiting for the right time, make the time right. That way you will live your dreams and enjoy your life to the fullest.
