Keep the Spirits Up Pals

Dear 123Greetings subscriber,
This has been a real crazy day, guys ! Steve nearly got picked up by the police a while ago ! Me ‘n Megan had jus’ gone out for a walk during lunch and what do we see ? Good ol’ Steve looking crazier than ever, standing right in the middle of the road with a contraption the size of a picnic box in front of him ’n making swirling motions on the top of his head. The cars were whizzing by on either side but he seemed totally unaware of the danger. The first chance we got, we dragged him to safety. He kept mumbling something about some guy named Bernoulli and his principle ‘n the wind energy from cars moving both ways reducing gravity and whatnot… I tell you, I was feeling as crazy as Steve looked ! (Well, he almost looked like this !). (Seems he’d cooked up a new way to signal the aliens ! Thank goodness we saw him before somebody alerted the police. Or the only signals he would’ve ended up sending by now would be SOS’s from behind bars !

Anyway, whether the signal from the stars arrives or not, Bob’s newsletter will always be there for you on time. So check out all the exciting fun-filled events we’ve lined up for you this week !

Look Up At The Sky Day [ Apr 12 ]

Hey, seems this day has been made just for Steve ! I think I’ll rename Look Up At The Sky Day to Steve’s Day ! Only fair, since the fellow looks up at the sky all day; sometimes even when walking on the road ! So whether your stargazing friends are looking forward to a visit from aliens, romance or simply daydreaming, don’t forget to wish them all on this day. Me ? I’ll jus’ drop Steve a line, “The heavens are calling, where are you ?”

Friday The 13th [ Apr 13 ]

I have strictly forbidden Steve to visit my place at night; even Kong’s pet peeve is Steve-at-night with geeky glasses and crude hairstyle. He looks a scientist in the day, cute kiddo that he is; but looks a vampire in the night, especially when he flashes his weird smile revealing his bunny tooth ! And you know the best part ? He screams “Holy Christ !” when he accidentally takes a peek at the mirror. Me ? I wish to sit home with lights on Friday the 13th. But in the day I am gonna send lots of graphic horror-specific fun cards to all my pals alike; let them warm up with the goosebumps early in the day ! Yeah, I know, my pretty chums… you too are itching for the same. Here’s wishing you good luck to fight the fear and happy clicking !

Blame Someone Else Day [ Apr 13 ]

I remember my first day at school. My mom took me to kindergarten ‘n a young lady, the teacher, took me inside. New place, unsure, and insecure… I promptly started wailing ! Soon my teacher came over to ask what had happened. The naughty Bob in me peeped and I gleefully pointed at my neighbor ‘n bawled, “She beat me !” You guessed right, it was Megan ! Of course, nobody believed me even then and Meggy escaped unhurt ! Well… the naughty bug’s tickling me again ! Should I finish off Donna’s lunch and tell her Ron’s been up ‘n around smelling the spices ? Hmmm… the expression on Donna’s face would itself be worth the effort ! Of course, I am sure it will make this Blame Someone Else Day a memorable one ! You too start messing things up, folks ! But hey, don’t get into a sorry situation. Remember, it’s fun when nobody’s hurt !

Fast Food Day [ Apr 15 ]

‘Long Live Kelly !’ ‘Long Live Kelly !!!’ No, Kelly hasn’t won the Kitchen Queen prize yet, but I bet it won’t be long ! You see, it being Fast Food Day ‘n all that, I brought over a bagful of her famous foot-long frankfurters to office. You heard the racket that followed ? That was after the guys sampled the goodies ! Even Mr. Big can’t stop praising her genius now ! So you too freak out on the wieners and burgers, folks… And Merry Munching to you all !

Cheeseball Day [ Apr 17 ]

Shhhh ! Whatever you do, don’t say “Cheeseball !” ‘Cheese’ and ‘Ball’ both strike a chord with Kong ‘n Pirate; and they simply go crazy when they hear one of those words. Mention them together ‘n’ they’ll be all over you ! And they won’t stop tormenting poor me ‘til I get them a bagful ! Not that I’m not in love with cheeseballs myself. So don’t be surprised if you see ol’ Bob jumping’ ‘n barking if you say the word… Jokes apart, don’t forget to say “Cheese !” and perk up your buddies on this lip-smacking yummy day !

Thank Your School Librarian Day [ Apr 18 ]

My brush with literature began with Mills & Boon. Okay agreed, it’s a girlie one. So what ? I’m a sucker for popcorn romance and fell head over heels into those pages. And then gradually liked the habit of reading itself, but was all at sea to find the right books. Mr. Jonathan, our School Librarian, guided me there and how ! He let me know that Shakespeare is not all sonnets, but stories too and Milton was blind alright, but he did envision a beautiful Paradise Lost. Literary English sounded Greek to me, but with his intellectual insights he made reading a pleasure. I owe him one and I remember it now on this Thank Your School Librarian Day. Got to visit him and make his day !
