For the first time since 1888, the Jewish eight-day festival of lights started on the same day as Thanksgiving. And this convergence of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah won’t happen again for another 77,798 years!
How cool is that?
Because it was such a special convergence never to be seen again in our lifetimes, Aaliyah and I put a menorah with the first Hanukkah candle lit as the centrepiece of our Thanksgiving dinner table. Aaliyah also made potato latkes served with sour cream and applesauce to bring flavours of the Hanukkah tradition to the table.
It was a delightful all-holiday party. Isn’t it lovely when the stars align for everyone to celebrate their traditions together?
Let’s keep the spirit high in these remaining days of the Hanukkah festival, and shower the people in our lives with Hanukkah gifts, greetings and thanks!
