Syria says it will allow United Nations personnel to deliver aids to the people suffering there. That’s one window open into the iron curtain. Let’s hope step by step without internal violence or outer military intervention things become smooth and life of the citizens return back to normalcy.
Egypt voted to choose their leader and the visuals that were beamed by the television into our living rooms was a joy to watch especially after the brutality the people faced during the Arab Spring. A bouquet of flowers and lots of love and support for the true heroes who stood shoulder to shoulder at Tahrir Square to bring about this change.
Well, their ex-premier Mubarak is sentenced for life for the terror he unleashed on the people who were protesting for change – his own people. Well, it’s a good opportunity for him to spend his lifetime behind the bars to contemplate what he did and why he did what he did.
Russia recently got back Putin as its leader… Again! He keeps coming back, doesn’t he? Well, the macho man of the old empire is still going strong, but there is this tiny bit of dissent from its people who marched the streets against his leadership. Well, it’s miniscule in the bigger scheme of things, but this form of protest is new to Russia.
China is going to go through the process of rearranging its members at the power center in the coming few months and that would be something of interest to all the first world countries.
Myanmar has allowed its long suffering activist to contest elections and she won handsomely. I am talking about Aung San Suu Kyi. She is giving interviews, is out in the open and there are tears in many eyes around the world – Tears of happiness and a whole lot of smiles.
Back home, Romney has won the Republican nod to be its Presidential nominee. He has a tough fight ahead and we are living in interesting times.
