What Would You Change In Your Partner?

Send Love Cards
Saturday Night.

My Place.

A few drinks down, I hit upon an idea. I thought of taking our relationship one step forward and my contribution was this:

Let’s get it on paper what we love about each other and what we hate or rather what are those little things that we don’t like about each other.

Aaliyah was hesitant. I told her I will gift her 100 red roses!

She smiled and agreed.

We sat in our respective corners of the couch and started writing.

Things I love about Aaliyah:

Smile.

Eyes.

So on and so forth… It went to about 2 pages.

Things that annoy me about her:

Never on time.

Anger on the tip of the nose.

Went on to list about 10 of them.

Once done, we exchanged papers.

Her paper had this written:

“I love all your imperfections. Even when you exhibit the ones I hate in others, I find them cute. I love everything about you.”

Sounded like a poem to me.

I didn’t know what to say.

I wished that I was invisible that moment. Aaliyah has made me understand that she never judged me while I was trying to program her to be something that I would desire. She likes me anyway. She loves me for what I am.

Change is constant, yes. But the real thing is the real deal.

Demanding or expecting someone to change for you is outright arrogance.

Love is not what you want, but what you have got.

Preserve it.

Don’t list, jus’ trust!
