I’ve been part of Passover celebrations in the past and it truly is an incredibly unique religious festival.
Did you know that the reason Jewish people celebrate Passover is to recognize the freeing of their people from slavery, in Ancient Egypt? All of the rituals that take place during these 8 days are so that Jewish people can remember and relive the experiences that their ancestors went through.
Here are some interesting Passover facts that you may not know:
- Any food containing yeast is not allowed to be eaten during Passover. This is because their ancestors gained freedom so suddenly that they had to pack up all their bread before it was properly made. No bread, pasta, cookies or even soy sauce is allowed during Passover.
- Parsley dipped in salt water is used to represent the tears shed by slaves in Ancient Egypt. Bitter herbs are also eaten to represent the bitter time experienced.
- Food and beverage companies make Passover friendly product, that is kosher.
This religious festival may seem somber, but this year it is taking place alongside Humor Month in April!
This month is the perfect time to laugh and make other people laugh, so send some funny cards and share a prank (or two).
Happy Humor Month and Pesach Same’ach!
