Not an easy job, I tell you. And definitely it is not easy to be liked as a boss . It is not the person, but the position that does that.
The ultimate power not only empowers but also corrupts. That is the problem. The dictatorial attitude is a byproduct of this job, but again not everyone relishes possessing one.
A good boss is all about balancing the powers one has.

You cannot be too mellow and if you are then you will be trampled over and work won’t get done. You can’t be too authoritative and then you will lose touch with your employees and in turn lose out on productivity on the floor.
Employees should sit down and introspect. Or maybe they should try to understand their superior. Anyone who understands the complexity of another’s job will become supportive of that individual. It is that simple.
If you become supportive then the reciprocation is a foregone conclusion.
That’s how a good employee-employer relationship is created.
Even when a relationship has blossomed, one should be careful not to cross the lines. There is this tendency to go overboard on acquiring the I-am-close-to-the-boss tag.
Don’t overuse it. Don’t publicize it. It may become a reason for your downfall later.
All said, given what the boss does and where he is… Be supportive of him and give him what he deserves – Appreciation.
Wish him a Happy Boss’s Day and wish him luck in all his endeavors.
Your success is entwined with his success. Remember that.
