A full moon overhead and the whole family by your side along with goodness in your heart celebrating the Chinese Moon Festival… What’s there not to like?
Well, I am no Chinese, but Wang Ling is! She is a colleague and a good friend. I love Chinese food and that’s where my connection to all things Chinese ended until I discovered their family and customs.
Amazing culture theirs! Enjoyed every bit of the festival and their way of celebrating it.

The idea behind the festival is even more beautiful. It is about a beautiful harvest and a lot of happiness that is shared among all.
Festivals are just not holidays to have fun, but a lesson in living if you look at them up close.
They are a time to be together and not live like islands as on other days of the year. When there is a crowd and that crowd is made up of people whom you care for and who care for you then that itself is a festival.
Festival is nothing but a moment of joy.
Chinese Moon Festival is celebrated for the same reason as any other festival anywhere in the world is celebrated for – to share and spread love to fellow human beings.
Share and spread love on good days.
Give me a person who is perpetually sad and give me a family which is together and I will place him in their midst and there will be a smile in that dejected soul within a matter of minutes.
That’s what love can do.
Chinese Moon Festival did that for me. I grinned, smiled and laughed. Felt like a part of that happy family.
