Democrats staged an amazing opening day of their convention the other day! They showcased plurality with people of almost all the ethnicities present. Then there was Michelle Obama. Of course, there was a shot of the President watching the First Lady speak from his couch at the White House with his two beautiful daughters. It was a touching albeit campaign friendly family portrait!
The message was personal and public. Personal message came from the First Lady herself on how good the President is and his humility and other personal traits from her point of view. The public persona of good a President he is for accepting Gay marriage, health care and nabbing Bin Laden.
There was an Indonesian family member at the convention while the comedy respite was by an Indian-American. And then there was the elderly white lady who thanked the President for the wage equality for women.
It was like an all inclusive buffet. There was something for everyone.
The message was simple: The battle for presidency is collective against single.
Republicans had their time in the sun for the past weeks and now Democrats are ready with their blitzkrieg. People in the middle who really matter are watching.
The sorry state of affairs is that the leaders and their ilk have to explain to the citizens what they have done and what they have not. We should know by now, shouldn’t we?
The day of reckoning is near and the electorate has to take a wise decision. This is the time to think of the words of the wise. Shut out the noise and concentrate on the substance. Make the decisions as a family and as an individual. Make the leaders liable for their failures and reward the ones who have kept their promises. Flowers or brickbats, you have the right to give them what they deserve.
There will always be television, but the real conscience is inside you. Listen to that before you cast your choice.
