That’s exactly what Hollywood studios are saying these days. Don’t blame yourself if you get a feeling of déjà vu. Not your fault really. Movies that are planned to be released this year are either sequels or prequels. You already know what that story is. All you have to do is look for a clue in the climax to know whether there would be another installment of the franchise. Here are some movies that are coming to grab your eye balls:
Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, The Hangover Part II, Kung Fu Panda 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Fast Five, X-Men: First Class, Cars 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Final Destination 5, Conan the Barbarian, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, Scream 4, etc.
If something is good, you want to see more of it. True. No question about it. There is a flip side to it too. Too much of something is not good. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth especially if the new installments desecrate the sanctity of the original. That offends the franchise fan boys real bad.
If you look at our greeting cards especially birthday, love et al, you would find the emotion to be the same, but the concepts different and the copies quite different. But we stay true to the core emotion. that the user seeks.
Emotions we deal with are such that we are able to create thousands of greeting cards clearly distinguishing one from another. End result: We give you infinite number of choices to communicate and share.
Wish the prequels and sequels too stay true to the core emotions of the originals. That is what makes an individual pay for those tickets and a tub of popcorn.
