Oprah Winfrey was teary eyed, Tom Cruise didn’t jump on the couch, but walked onto the stage, Tom Hanks spoke a lot and very eloquently at that if I may add. Even Will Smith was there with his beautiful wife. Beyonce danced and sang. Madonna was there. It would be easier to count who was not there rather than counting how many were there. It was a farewell night to remember.
She sent her fans to Australia and she gave a car to each one of her studio audience. She cried when an individual on her couch had heartache to share. She would smile and laugh at her own silliness. She would pry out a confession like a preacher behind the veil. She would ask for an apology and will sure get one when she thinks it is justified. She was on the podium, but her soul was always with the audience. She walked the talk and then some more.
When she whole heartedly supported Obama during presidential elections, it would be only logical to think of the tremendous fillip his campaign got out of that. It worked wonders for him, no doubt. She is best of friends with almost anybody who has a reputation and a personality worth talking about.
She is a victim of child abuse, poverty and discrimination. Today, she is a celebrity par excellence, a philanthropist who inspires people, and a personality who heals the pain of an aching heart. All said, she is human.
She cried. It was an eventful 25 years.
You will continue to inspire us in the years to come, we are sure.
Hat’s off to you.
Take a bow.
