“We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God, on Christmas. The purpose God chose for His son is to make this world enlightened and awakened to the existence of godliness amidst the psychological, emotional, social and political drama that is going on. It all depends on the choices people are making. The ‘Free Will’ bestowed upon us as a gift has been manipulated and we’ve lost our track. We wandered far from our life-purpose and on each Christmas, we are again given a renewed chance to move towards what matters.” said Fred lifting his face from his book. All evening he hadn’t said a word while we were all discussing the essence of Christmas in today’s world.
“But how would we know what matters to us, Fred?” Adrian asked. I smiled as I had mulled over this question for a long time. We all waited for Fred to collect his thoughts. Fred is the most sought-after mentor among us owing to his experiences as a war veteran, his seniority and his interests in reading and reflecting. He said, “The more stressful, complaining, fearful, condemning or judgmental you are the more away you are from your path. Sometimes it leads you to oblivion, the dark night of the soul.”
He continued, “If you celebrate your life most of the time and if you believe happiness is more important than being perfect, know that you are close to your innate divinity. The more you are grateful, accepting, asserting, affirming and loving, the more you are in the light, moving towards your purpose in life.”
We all reflected upon his words and there was a deep and meaningful silence in the living room.
The kids were decorating the Christmas tree on the other end of the room. We could hear them buzzing with joy. “We always thought we needed to teach them life lessons, they know it all and we need to learn from them to be cheerful without so many conditions and beliefs,” said Adrian smilingly.
Let the voices of the world that wants to make you perfect fade in the praise of Lord who made each one perfect. Like a woman is complete when she conceives and carries the baby and is equally whole after giving birth to the baby and the neonatal who has come to the world is also complete in his tiny form so is the son of God who emerges from the womb of the Universe and so are we who are His creation.
All we need to do is choose to be happy. Let this be our Christmas gift to ourselves.
Share the joy. Send Christmas wishes to one and all.
