I love April Fools’ Day because it is that one time of the year that you can prank someone and not get into trouble.

It’s fascinating to think that this tradition is a centuries-old tradition. It just goes to show that laughter never gets dated! Just take a look at some of the best April Fools’ Day pranks recorded in history.

On April 1 in the 1840s, the Boston Post printed a story that announced a cave full of treasure had been discovered beneath Boston Common! The story claimed that when workmen removed a tree from the Common, it revealed a stone trap-door with a large iron ring set in it. Beneath the door was a stone stairway that led to an underground cave full of treasures, jewels, coins and weapons. Curious seekers rushed to the Commons to view the treasure, only to realize that they’ve been made had by April Fool’s Day!

On April 1 1943, The Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported that scientists had trained squids to bring them back to shore. Each squid, they reported, could in fact bring in a dozen fish every 30 minutes. And with 100 squids trained, Hawaii would no longer face a shortage of fish. Imagine the disappointment of the Hawaiians when they realised it was just an April Fools’ prank!

Now, you really don’t want to miss out on the fun of this centuries-old tradition. So go on, let’s keep up the laughter and send along funny Happy April Fool’s Day card or prank cards. And if anyone pranks you, don’t let them get away with it and shoot back with a smart reply card.

Don’t forget you can double the fun with a funny video or card for Laugh Week and keep the laughter rolling it for the rest of the entire week!

And if your special someone gets upset with you for pranking them, don’t worry. Great Lovers Day in on April 2, which means you can shower them with love and kisses to make up for it.

Happy April Fools’ Day!
